What Happened
After the Show: The
Kestler Family
The
Situation Then: Bobby and Monir Kestler originally
appeared on the show “At Odds Over Corporal Punishment”
on January 5, 2005. Monir was concerned about her husband
Bobby’s excessive drinking and abusive discipline
style. A hidden camera in the Kestler household revealed
shocking footage of Bobby drinking as many as 40 beers
per day and constantly yelling hurtful things at his
family. Throughout the show, Bobby transformed from
a defensive man who deemed himself “master of
his plantation” to someone who acknowledged that
a traumatic upbringing had led to his current state.
As a means of help, Larry offered to send Bobby to rehabilitation
at the Comeback Treatment Center.

with his family.
The Situation Now: After 60 days in rehab, Bobby
has emerged a new man. Twenty pounds lighter and infinitely
less angry, Bobby is sober for the first time in ten
years and treating his family with much more respect.
While in rehab, Monir and their three daughters (Tiffany,
Dallas and Tyler) focused on making the house more conducive
to Bobby’s recovery. They had an “alcohol-dumping
party” and met with psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser
to address the children’s own fighting tendencies.
With Bobby back home, the family is now focused on moving
forward and optimistic about the future.
