Controversial School Policies and The People Who Oppose Them
What happened after the show: Corey Rager and Kati Monahan

The Situation Then: 15-year-old Corey Rager and his mom Kati Monahan appeared on the show "Controversial School Policies and The People Who Oppose Them" on October 13, 2004.

On his first day at a brand-new school, high school sophomore Corey was asked to remove all four of his facial piercings. While some students would've complied with the request, Corey chose to fight the school's policy, saying that his right to express himself shouldn't be taken away. His mother Kati supported his decision and deemed the rule unfair.

The Situation Now: Just a week after the show aired, Kati decided to withdraw Corey from the school district and home school him. After Corey was faced with a 5-day in-school suspension, Kati became fed up at the way he was being treated and felt there was no hope of him catching up on lost work.

In a speech to the Henry County Board of Education, Kati said, "I think it's a shame I have to pull him out when I am told your school system is one of the best in Georgia." Despite the home schooling decision and freedom to wear whatever he wants, Corey now has reduced his four facial piercings to just one on his chin.
