"Newlyweds Struggling to Keep Their Marriage Alive"

Though every marriage has its challenges, it can be especially tough when newlyweds encounter obstacles. Today’s guests are second-guessing their decisions to marry their mates and want Larry’s help in getting clarity on their situations. Find out more about their stories below:

Newlyweds Kevin and Jessica say their honeymoon period was basically nonexistent. After just a month of marriage, both partners are on the verge of calling it quits. Jessica’s breaking point came when she discovered that Kevin had impregnated his ex-girlfriend without telling her, while Kevin points to the fact that Jessica has cheated on him in the past. Furthering the divide is Kevin’s family’s disapproval of Jessica and his father’s use of racial slurs against her.

Guest expert Keith Ablow, M.D., suggested that he senses a strong romantic bond between Kevin and Jessica despite their obstacles. He asked Kevin to set down strict rules with his father in which he will be banned from their home if he continues to disrespect Jessica.

Carl and Amanda’s daily reality includes 24/7 bickering about the kids, bills and everything else under the sun. Carl’s desire to spend more time with his children by a different woman has become a major issue, over which the fighting has only worsened since the birth of his daughter with Amanda one year ago. At just 18, Amanda says she unfairly shoulders the burden of the family responsibility and she needs Carl to take on more. Guest expert Keith Ablow, M.D., said that Carl and Amanda must treat their marriage problems as a family crisis and ask their parents to help out if they want their marriage to stay afloat.
